About Dementia Friendly Worthing

The Worthing Area Dementia Forum first met in October 2013, as bi-monthly public meetings at venues such as Guild Care and the Worthing Alzheimer’s Society. Supported by these charities and Carers Support West Sussex and Coastal West Sussex Mind, our aim was to establish a dementia friendly community in the Worthing area.

Our vision is to create an inclusive dementia friendly community where people living with dementia, and their family carers, are active participants within the community. A place where people with dementia can remain independent and have choice and control over their lives within a safe and rewarding supportive environment.

Worthing’s dementia-friendly community, with its many dementia friends of all ages, and from all walks of life, are already having a positive impact.

Abbeyfield Ferring is working in partnership with the Worthing Dementia Hub to deliver local services for people living with dementia in the Worthing area.

Stay Active is a respite service for people with dementia (of any age), who enjoy being social and out and about.

Stay Social provides motivating activities for people who are concerned about their memory. Sessions are held at the Abbeyfield Centre, Ferring and cost £25 per session.
