    Dementia advice and information

    Alzheimer’s Society forums – online discussion forum for any one affected by dementia.

    The Butterfly Scheme – used in hospitals to ensure people with dementia are cared for well.

    West Sussex Mind – independent local mental health charity working in West Sussex.

    The Dementia Centre (dsdc) – at Stirling University is an international centre dedicated to improving the lives of people with dementia. Packed with information.

    Dementia Friends – for people wanting to understand a bit more about dementia.

    Dementia UK – Admiral Nurses who provide support to families affected by dementia.

    Ideas for home and living

    Care Charts – used in many care homes and by home care agencies, record a person’s likes and dislikes.

    Designability – is a national charity joining expertise and knowledge to enhance people’s lives through the design of easy-to-use products.

    Jointly – is an app that makes caring for someone a little easier and more organised.

    Unforgettable.org – probably the worlds best online shop for products for people with dementia and memory loss. They work with the Alzheimers Society and make it easier for carers to find products that can help them at home.

    Action on Elder Abuse – this can happen anywhere, in a persons home, care home or hospital.

    Age UK – advice, information and local services in some areas.

    Care Quality Commission – the independent regulator of health and social care services.

    Carewise – a financial advice scheme set up by West Sussex County Council providing an approved panel of qualified independent financial specialists.

    Elderly Care – is a free website created by the consumer association Which? The website provides independent information on all aspects of care for older people. There is a carers hub, legal and financial advice and a care services directory.

    Healthwatch – an independent organisation for feedback on health and care in West Sussex.

    Mind – mental health charity that publishes information on all aspects of mental health.

    The Money Advice Service – free and impartial advice set up by the government.

    NHS 111 service, – information on a wide range of health topics. Telephone service gives access to round-the-clock clinical information, confidential advice and reassurance.

    Occupational Therapy  – Therapy Directory aims to enhance the daily lives of those with mental, physical and developmental disabilities.

    Relatives and Residents Association – is a charity supporting people in care homes, their relatives and friends.

    Solicitors for the Elderly – independent, national organization of lawyers providing specialist advice for vulnerable older people and their families.
